Carter and daddy with their rally caps on...After about three innings, Asher was getting warm and cranky, so we headed back to the outfield for some more fun. One of the main attractions they have out there is the Little K. It's a little baseball field set up with staff members pitching balls to kids. They get to hit about five pitches, then they can run the bases and even play defense for other batters. There was a huge line for this pre-game, so we decided to wait until the middle of the game to do it. Carter could hardly wait to get back there--he kept saying he wanted to go to "my baseball game." Well, even during the third inning, there was still a pretty long line, but Carter and I waited it out while Chris and Asher found some shade.
Finally, it was Carter's turn! I think he hit 4 out of his 5 pitches!
Then it was time to take a trip around the bases.
By that time, it was the middle of the 7th inning and people were beginning to leave, so we found some nice seats in the shade on the lower level to finish out the game. On Sundays they have a Fun Run after the game where kids can run the bases on the "real" field. We went to get in line at the beginning of the 9th inning and there were probably 500 people ahead of us already. YIKES! We stuck it out again, waiting about an hour after the game and there were probably about 1500 people total that ended up running the bases.
Chris and Carter are finally making their way on to the field.
Chris said that Carter was acting pretty pokey at the beginning and he kept having to hurry him along...
...but once he rounded 3rd base, Carter kicked it in gear and left daddy in the dust!
After a long, warm day in the sun and LOTS of walking, we were all pretty worn out after the game. On the way back home, both boys got pretty grouchy in the car, so mommy got the pleasure of crawling in the backseat to entertain/appease them. Asher got his rattle and some face time with mommy...
...and Carter got to watch Cars and Barney.

Life is GOOD. Even though the Royals lost 4-3, we still had a nice trip and Carter's already asking when we can go on "vacation" again. Little stinker. We all love "vacation."
