Carter's Preschool Christmas Party

Carter's preschool class had their Christmas party last week. I had signed up to be a helper, so I got to see the class in action. Every good party has some yummy treats and this was no exception. Carter loved his yummy tree cookie covered with M&Ms. Next, the class went into the gym to play some games. Each kid took turns being blindfolded and guessing which of their classmates was holding the tiny sleigh. The last activity was a game of freeze dance. There was Christmas music playing and one of the moms led the kids in different movements, but once the music stops, everyone had to FREEZE. They loved it and all the moms were dying laughing. Here's Carter dancing around like a reindeer.
More reindeer!
Crazy kids...they definitely burned some energy during this game!

2010 Santa in the 'hood.

For the past several years, some of the families in our neighborhood have made it tradition to invite Santa over for a short visit with our kids. We told the kids we were getting together to make reindeer cookies, and the big kids got right to work on their project. The little kids, however, didn't have the patience for crafts...they got straight to the eating part.Cru and Jami.Melisa and Cole.Reanna, Hunter and Tiffani.Me and my two goofballs. As soon as they heard a "HO, HO, HO" coming down the stairs, their eyes lit up! He was even carrying a sack of gifts!Santa handed out all of his gifts (coincidentally, everyone got a book!), and the kids tore into them. Carter showing off his new book, "Llama Llama Holiday Drama."Next we had each group of kids sit with Santa for a picture. Asher did not love that idea at first......but once we rearranged and put Carter in the middle, he was more compliant. And pretty soon he was giving Santa a five.
The whole group of kids with Santa (minus Cru--he was not digging the jolly guy)--please note that not ONE single child is actually looking at the camera. This pretty much sums up our evening of chaos.
Carter gave Santa one last hug before he left. The kids did have one request before Santa left...they wanted to see his sleigh and reindeer! Ummm...one quick thinking mommy (Melisa) reminded Santa that his sleigh was in the shop getting a tune-up before his long trip on Christmas Eve. Therefore, Santa was on foot tonight. Good thinking, Melis!

Angel Depot Christmas Program

Carter's preschool had a Christmas program this week and the kids have been working hard at school to learn all of their songs. I asked him every day after preschool what they'd been working on and every day he'd say "I just can't tell you."

Carter (and mommy) was very excited for his big performance. He got all dressed up and couldn't wait to go!
The Preschool and Pre-K classes performed together...here they are all filing in together...Carter spotted us right away.
The kids were absolutely adorable. They sang about five songs and it lasted no more than 20 minutes. Short and sweet, but when you're working with 3-5 year olds, I'm sure that is about the max amount of time to hold their attention.
There were actions to all of the songs including jumping up and down and spinning around. Our boy got a little carried away and nearly took out the two girls on either side of him during a jumping sequence, but quickly regained his balance. That would have been quite a memorable first performance if he'd fallen off the risers.
Checking out the girls beside him.
Can't you just hear him belting out the songs?
Taking a bow after they're fantastic performance.
Cookies and punch afterwards made for a perfect evening. We're very thankful that Carter has such great teachers and we know most of the kids in his class and their families. We look forward to Carter growing up and attending school with such a great group of kids! He's getting to be such a big boy and we couldn't be prouder of him!

Thanksgiving Feast at Preschool

Carter's preschool class had a Thanksgiving feast and each student got to invite one adult to join them at the party. Daddy was supposed to attend, but ended up getting sick that morning, so mommy got to go!

The kids had decorated placemats for us to eat on. Carter and mommy.Mallorie and her daddy enjoying the "feast": popcorn, chocolate haystacks, trail mix and juice.
Then they put on these adorable turkey hats and performed a little show for us.
Who is surprised that our child is acting like a goofball, while all the other kids are listening to Miss Becky? Not this mama. The whole class.
