Carter loses a tooth!

July 18th was a big day for the biggest boy at our house! Lots of Carter's friends have lost several teeth over the last few months, and he's been wiggling his every day, just to see if any were loose yet. In early July, he was thrilled to announce that he finally found a loose tooth! This momma was selfishly hoping it would just stay put until after our family pictures at the end of August. Let's face it, once the holes start showing up in the smiles, pictures get a little goofy looking for awhile ;). With his daily wiggling and pushing, I knew there was no hope that it would last over a month.

On the 17th, it was just barely hanging on. As excited as Carter was to actually "lose" the tooth, he would not let us give it a little tug. I pleaded and reasoned with him for 20 minutes at bedtime that night, but he was having none of it, and working himself into hysteria, so I gave up. The next morning, while he was getting ready for school, he comes barreling up the stairs screaming for me. His tooth had fallen out while brushing his teeth! Well, that was easy (thankfully, he didn't swallow it and it didn't fall down the drain!).

We had one very happy little boy!
 Showing off his new hole.
That night we tucked that little tooth under his pillow and hoped that the tooth fairy would find his new bedroom downstairs. The next morning, he again came barreling upstairs, elated to show me the note and the crisp $5 bill that he found under his pillow. The note congratulated him on losing his very first tooth, and explained to him that the first one is extra special, but she won't be able to afford $5 for every tooth after this ;).
