Winter Spa Day/Baby Shower

A very good friend of ours is due to have a baby in about two weeks and several of us friends from college wanted to do something special for her baby shower. We'd visited Rock Haven Spa, near Hays, last fall and we knew that it would be a great way to shower this special mommy-to-be, and give all of us a nice escape from real life. Eight of us total traveled from all over Kansas and Nebraska and met up in Hays on the morning of Jan. 8.

Sarah and Lana (our guest of honor) heading in to Rock Haven. All of us robed up, getting ready for hot tub time. Back row l.-r.: Beth, Sarah, Jessica, Emily, Nicole. Front row l.-r.: Lana, me, Brooke.
The two preggos couldn't sit in the hot tub, so they got warm blankets and just stuck their legs in the water, sipping on white grape juice of course.
The rest of us thorougly enjoyed our peach champagne and we all snacked on cheese, fruit and muffins.
Next, they split us into two groups for a steam shower and salt scrub--Jessica, Nicole, Sarah and I.
In the middle of our steam bath, the entire property experienced a power outage. We were all stuck in the dark in soaking wet swimming suits , sweat dripping from our heads in this steam bath. We were in the middle of a very animated story when it all happened and just found it another reason to laugh with great friends. The staff eventually came and rescued us with some lanterns and we cut our steam bath short. After that, we hung out in the lobby for about 45 minutes while waiting for the power to be restored.
We all had hour long massages and then finished the steam bath afterwards.
A few of us had pedicures as well and it was such an awesome time getting pampered! The staff at Rock Haven really do treat you like royalty.
Lana getting her toes done...
Look at those pretty toes!
After our nearly six hours at the spa, we stopped for Sno-balls and other beverages, and headed to Nicole's house in Ellis. We spent the evening snacking, reminiscing, catching up on each other's lives, showering Lana with gifts for her baby girl and even watched a Jillian Michaels exercise video--don't worry, we just watched it, we were definitely not working out ;).
Once again, outings like this remind me of how lucky I am to have such great friends. Even though we haven't all been together for close to eight years, we can still pick up right where we left off and share tons of laughs and stories. Love you girls!
