While driving home from daycare a few weeks ago, Carter asked, "Mom, when are we going to move out of our house?" I was totally caught off guard by this and told him probably not for a very long time. He said, "No mom, we need to move out of our house so we can go on a 'cation and stay in a hotel." Ahhh...he didn't want to move, he just wanted to go on vacation! Well, we don't really have a family vacation planned anytime soon, but Chris and I were contemplating New Year's Eve plans recently and rather than try to find a babysitter, we decided to take a little weekend getaway with the boys and meet some friends in KC. We got on Priceline and found some super cheap (super NICE) hotel rooms and made Carter a VERY happy boy. And now he'll agree to live in our house a little bit longer. :)
We recently heard about a restaurant called Fritz's in Crown Center (downtown KC) and thought that Carter and Asher would love it. We met our friends Sarah and Jacque there first thing when we got to town.
The restaurant had a railroad theme, and I'm pretty sure all little boys like trains. Here's Carter waiting in the train car before we were seated.
They also had a bunch of play equipment outside, but we only lasted a few minutes out there...it was COLD!!
Then it was off to the hotel for some bed jumping...
After settling in, we headed to Chili's for some appetizers/drinks, then went to our friends Nick & Steph's house for a little NYE party. Once the boys started getting tired and cranky, our family, Sarah and Jacque headed back to the hotel to put the kids in bed and to play cards. We made it to about 12:45am and then hit the hay.
The next day we had plans to meet up with several other friends from FHSU at Granite City for lunch. I bribed the boys to sit still for one quick picture in the hotel before we left. It's a keeper!
