NYE in KC

While driving home from daycare a few weeks ago, Carter asked, "Mom, when are we going to move out of our house?" I was totally caught off guard by this and told him probably not for a very long time. He said, "No mom, we need to move out of our house so we can go on a 'cation and stay in a hotel." Ahhh...he didn't want to move, he just wanted to go on vacation! Well, we don't really have a family vacation planned anytime soon, but Chris and I were contemplating New Year's Eve plans recently and rather than try to find a babysitter, we decided to take a little weekend getaway with the boys and meet some friends in KC. We got on Priceline and found some super cheap (super NICE) hotel rooms and made Carter a VERY happy boy. And now he'll agree to live in our house a little bit longer. :)

We recently heard about a restaurant called Fritz's in Crown Center (downtown KC) and thought that Carter and Asher would love it. We met our friends Sarah and Jacque there first thing when we got to town. The restaurant had a railroad theme, and I'm pretty sure all little boys like trains. Here's Carter waiting in the train car before we were seated.
The little ones got engineer hats when we got to our table. It's no surprise that Asher's didn't stay on too long. We placed our orders via the phone at our table.
And all orders are delivered by this little train that runs around the top of the restaurant. We had to wait awhile for our food, but the boys had fun watching the train leave the kitchen and drop off orders.
Pretty soon, the train dropped off our order!
Waiting for it to be lowered to our table...
Carter could barely contain his excitement.
Asher was just ready to chow down.
After lunch we visited this indoor Crayola Land playground that was set up in Crown Center for the holidays. The boys could have played there for hours...it was a great energy release for them.
They also had a bunch of play equipment outside, but we only lasted a few minutes out there...it was COLD!!
Then it was off to the hotel for some bed jumping...
After settling in, we headed to Chili's for some appetizers/drinks, then went to our friends Nick & Steph's house for a little NYE party. Once the boys started getting tired and cranky, our family, Sarah and Jacque headed back to the hotel to put the kids in bed and to play cards. We made it to about 12:45am and then hit the hay.

The next day we had plans to meet up with several other friends from FHSU at Granite City for lunch. I bribed the boys to sit still for one quick picture in the hotel before we left. It's a keeper!
And then we loaded up our stuff and headed out to the Legends.
Once our party of 16 finally got a table, we enjoyed catching up with great friends and a great lunch.
Beth and Brynn...
Madelyn and Sarah.
It was a great, short little trip and a fun way to spend our New Years!
