Chris and I both had the day off on Christmas Eve, so we spent all day and evening with the Allen/Jilka families in Salina. The day was filled with wonderful food, good conversation, playtime with the cousins, lots of laughs, presents and a visit from Santa.
Carter and daddy lounging on the couch with family.

Natalie and Grandma hard at work in the kitchen.

Aunt Angie and her boyfriend Erik were able to come back for Christmas--they flew all the way from New York City! The kids were very excited to see them (and jump on them).

Me and Ash.

Grandma found stick-on mustaches for all the kids to wear. Of course, our boys wanted nothing to do with them. Nat and McKenna were willing to look silly though.

After lunch it was present time! The kids were so excited and it was a room full of flying paper, squeals of delight and lots of general noise. Carter of course felt like he needed to help Asher open every present.

Carter got exactly what he wanted...Beyblades!

Morgan was nice enough to sit down and read Asher's new book to him in the middle of all the chaos.

Asher got a new step stool which made this boy's whole year. He is constantly battling with big brother to get to his stool first for teeth brushing or helping mom cook. Short legs and a 25 lb. disadvantage means the little one usually lost the battle. Now he has his very own Handy Manny stool and he carries it with him everywhere.

Asher was also the proud recipient of a new battery-powered roadster. Mo and McKenna brought it out to surprise the little guy.

Settling in for a test drive.

Once again, Carter had to show him the ropes.

Aunt Angie opening her new Uggs...all of the adult girls got boots and the guys got slippers!

Grandma and Papa opening their new fire pit from all the kids and grandkids.

Grandma and the kids checking out the photo calendars we made for them.

Ash taking a break from all the action to ride Talyn's pillow pet.
Back to presents...digging in his stocking.
Power Pez!
Morgan taking Asher for a stroll in the baby doll stroller.
Angie and Erik with our boys.
Then we made Angie and Erik take a "family picture" with the baby doll...they were dying laughing.

Kerrie, Tammy, me and Angie.
Ryan, Erik, Rob and Chris. (If you know Chris' family, you know that it's a small miracle to get a photo of all these guys with no "naughty fingers" being flashed.)
By mid-afternoon we had told Carter "no more candy" until after supper. This is where we found him a little while later--hiding
under the table sneaking some chocolate. Little stinker!
An attempted picture with Grandma Betty.
Later in the evening, we sent the kiddos downstairs and the adults had a white elephant gift exchange. The gifts had to be something we had in our house already or we could spend no more than $5. Here's Erik displaying his new book.
Chris and his piggy crumbsweeper.
After all the gifts were opened, Santa rang the doorbell! This picture sums up how Asher felt about Santa...he was not impressed.
Carter was very willing to sit on his lap---he knows who brings the presents! Smart kid.
After Santa bribed Ash with a candy cane, he started to loosen up. He gave some high fives, visited a little and even gave Santa a hug.

After our great day with the family, we headed home to get ready for Santa...more to come soon.
