Allen Family Fun: Carter's 5th Birthday

On October 20, Carter Jace turned FIVE years old!! Five seems so big! He is a big boy and growing every day in all ways. Mommy & daddy both took the day off work for his special day and we also borrowed one of Carter's best buddies, Ian, to come spend the day with us.

Following tradition at our house, the birthday boy woke up to wrapped presents from mommy, daddy and Asher waiting for him in the living room.

He quickly tore into them, and Ash was right there to help.

There may have even been a small hissyfit by someone who just didn't understand that the presents weren't for HIM this time. It's tough being two.

The new Daylight Donuts shop just happened to be having their grand opening on Carter's birthday. Carter has been so bummed since the other one closed and he couldn't hardly wait when we told him there was going to be a new donut shop in town. The fact that it was opening on his birthday was icing on the cake!!

After the sugar rush, we drove to Burns to visit Walter's Pumpkin Patch. Carter, Ian and I all came to this patch last year on Carter's birthday and had such a fun time, Carter wanted to come back and bring daddy & Ash along for the fun.

Little Ash was about 2 3/4 ft.

The big boys requested that the Jumping Pillow be our first stop. We got to the patch pretty early, so we had many attractions to ourselves for quite awhile.

Ash was suprisingly tentative, until he coaxed mom & dad into jumping with him.

Next was the "sledding" hill. They had two large plastic tubes tunneled into a big hill and people could ride sleds down them. The big boys remembered how much fun this was, and Ash was gung-ho from the beginning on this one! Luckily, we didn't have any injuries like last year.

Ash wanted to go by himself...he even carried his sled up the big hill by himself! Such a big (little) boy!

Then it was time for a little fun in the corn crib. We had corn coming out of our pockets and shoes and hoods for quite awhile after this!

Next we ventured into the pumpkin patch.

The boys found some huge ones! Perfect place for some photo ops.

I handed my big ole' camera off to Ian (not expecting too much) for a family picture, but I was SO impressed with what he got! Way to go, Ian! Budding photographer at 5 years old!
