Vacation: Part Two--The RiverWalk and more.

On our second day in San Antonio, we headed out for the River Walk in downtown. We finally found a parking lot and on our way to the River Walk, we stopped at a fun park. It was getting hot quickly, so we didn't stay long, but the kids had fun exploring. This was how you could find Asher every day of our vacation--missing (at least) one shoe, always the right shoe. No matter if he was wearing sandals or tennis shoes, and no matter how tight I cinched them on his chubby little feet, he would immediately kick off the right shoe. We'd be walking down the River Walk and numerous people would stop to tell us "your little boy is missing a shoe..." --"Yeah, we know, thanks." So frustrating, but we eventually just left him barefoot if he was going to be riding in the stroller. Little stinker. The River Walk was beautiful. We walked around nearly the whole stretch and the four of us took a boat ride tour. We stopped for lunch at Dick's Last Resort. Rob, Ryan and I had all been to Dick's before in other cities, so we knew what to expect, but the others were in for a surprise. The entire staff at Dick's is totally rude/sarcastic to everyone. When you sit down at your table they throw menus at you and bark "You better be ready to order when I get back." They start at one end of the table and make you pass all the food/drinks down to each person. If you ask for anything extra they tell you NO (but eventually get it for you), and don't you dare talk back to them, because then they'll pick on you during the whole meal. Our waitress was especially spunky...She made us all wear bibs...And we all got "special" hats that we had to wear. The hats all had something different on them including: "Princess Poopie Pants," "I like to play with naked Barbies," "I'm not cheap, I just dress that way," "Easy like Sunday Morning," etc. We all had a great time and the food was good, too!Next we walked to the Alamo. Here are the boys and myself standing in front of it. By that time, we were all hot and tired, so we headed back to the house for a quick shower. Ash was snoozin' hard in his stroller by the time we walked back to our car. Later that evening we joined back up with Grandma and Papa and had dinner at the Magic Time Machine Restaurant. All of the employees are dressed up as famous fictional and non-fictional characters from present and past. Below are a few of the characters we saw:

Woody from Toy Story
Ariel
Lilo
Elvis
Indiana Jones
Jack Sparrow...Grandma thought he was pretty cute!! We all thought he had the best costume. Carter and Papa enjoying their meals.
Our family at the end of the evening...both boys were ready.to.GO.
