Vacation: Part Four--San Antonio Children's Museum

On our last day in San Antonio, our family, Grandma, Tammy & Talyn headed back downtown to visit the San Antonio Children's Museum, while the rest of the group went on a float trip. The Children's Museum was a big three story building jam-packed full of fun things for kids to play with, explore, climb on, etc. It was a huge hit for Carter and Talyn. First thing they saw was this view-thru aquarium.
Next up was the bubble room. The kids got to make huge bubbles with this pulley system. We tried to convince Carter to step inside so we could make a bubble around him, but he was not interested, so daddy tried it instead! On the third floor they had a big airplane. Look close and you might recognize the pilot!Buckle up for safety!Checking out the scene in the control tower.
Issuing tickets to Aunt Tammy.
Back on the main level, the ball factory was lots of fun...hundreds of little balls flying everywhere. It was hard to get Carter to leave that area.
They had this little Good Cents Bank complete with a working ATM. They put their debit card in the slot and out popped some play money. They loved it and kept coming back for more money...if only it were that easy ;).
Next they geared up to ride in the front loader. They rode with Chris and he helped them scoop up some dirt and move it forward.
Carter also learned about milking cows (that didn't last long).
But the best part was saved for last. The entire lower level of the building was a kid-sized grocery store! Carter sprinted for the shopping carts as soon as we came down the stairs.Stocking up on some canned goods.Don't forget the produce! He made sure to get some bananas for Asher and tomatoes for daddy. What a load these two have! Then they got to check themselves out with real barcode scanners and cash registers...it was adorable! Good thing they got some cash at the ATM earlier to pay for their groceries!

In addition to all the fun things shown above, the kids got to ride in trolleys and boats, use different kinds of telephones, build with oversized blocks, make music, play in mini houses, and much more. We all had a lot of fun (except poor little Asher who had a fever)! To top off the day, we walked back down to the River Walk and ate at a very fancy, yummy restaurant called Boudro's. It was a nice, relaxing day to end the trip.
