6 months!

All About Asher:

Weight: 18 lbs., 3 oz.

Food: We've started supplementing 2-3 feedings each day with formula, and the remaining are still breastmilk. Little man has mastered green beans and we started peas last night--he loves his big boy food!

Milestones: He's sitting up so big now! He started about three weeks ago and could sort of "tripod" for a few seconds, but now he can sit up on the floor or bed for several minutes until he gets tired or mad.

Misc. update: Seriously...how can he be six months old already? Half a year has gone by, but I swear he was just born yesterday! The deep, dark bags under my eyes do look like I haven't slept for six months, so maybe it CAN be true :).

Speaking of sleep...mom and dad had to get tough this week. We've been warning little man that once he turned six months, we wouldn't be partying all night anymore. Monday night was night #1...we started letting him cry himself back to sleep in his crib. This may be one of the hardest parts of parenting--listening to your baby cry for close to an hour. I know some people don't agree with it, but it worked like a charm for Carter and we're ready for some sleep. We know he's not hungry or sick or dirty...he just wants to hang with his people at 1am, 3am and 5am! Anyways, night #1 was rough, night #2 showed slight improvement...we're praying for a little less crying each night! Good news is that Ash-man doesn't hold a grudge...he's thrilled to see us in the mornings and full of smiles :).

He's also started shaking his head "no." I'm not sure that he know what he's doing, but he does it quite often and with much enthusiasm. Sometimes he's happy, and sometimes he's MAD...so who knows..."NO" just might be his first word. Daddy's coaching really hard for "da-da" almost daily though, so we'll see??

He's also getting really good with his hands--reaching and grabbing for anything he can get his hands on, including hair, jewelry and glasses. Our days of having a calm, immobile baby that sits still on our lap are numbered!!
