The much anticipated day had finally arrived...Carter's 6th birthday! The fact that our first born can be six already and in kindergarten completely baffles me, but the day couldn't come soon enough for our big guy. You see, this kid had been making party plans with his dad for no less than 8 months prior to Oct. 20. The boys absolutely LOVE the TV show WipeOut, they ask every night "is WipeOut on tonight?" and our soft leather furniture downstairs often transforms into a WipeOut course when mom's not looking. So, when the thought of having a WipeOut party came up, the excitement level at our house was through the roof.
The morning started as all birthdays in our house do...waking up to family presents waiting in the living room......and a special birthday breakfast on the special birthday plate.
After soccer and football games were played that morning, it was back to the house to set up the course in the backyard. Soon we had lots of very excited kiddos anxiously waiting out front to WIPEOUT! Turns out, our kids aren't the only ones who love this show!
Back row L-R: Hayden, Addie, Wyatt, Ian, Eli, Teegan, Carter, Reese & Braden.
Front row L-R: Cora, Asher, Joe, Caden, Mallorie & Reanna.
They hurried into the backyard to get their instructions from the course director, Daddy.
The birthday boy went first and demonstrated all of the obstacles. Here he is tackling the balance beam and one of the sweeper arms.
You can't have a WipeOut party without the big red (and white and grey) balls!
More sweeper arm action.
The grand finale was the Sundae Slide! Chocolate and strawberry syrup, whipped cream and water made for a messy slip & slide! They had to grab the cherry (red ball) at the end to officially finish the course.
Final messy pose! We had a private area behind the house where the kids could get hosed off and change into a clean set of clothes that they brought after they were done.
Never too far behind his brother, wild man Asher was next.Being lower to the ground proved to be advantageous for some of the obstacles ;).
And lots more pictures of all the fun...
These sweet little girls wanted nothing to do with the "messy" stuff at first. I told them they could do whatever parts they wanted, and could definitely skip the messy parts. Well, after watching all those boys have a blast getting messy, all four of them ended up doing most of the course ;). Way to go, girls!
Cora got a whipped cream pedicure to start off!
Mal got a whipped cream scalp treatment ;).
Filthy and proud!
After everyone got a chance to complete the course, these kiddos were hungry! We made it easy on ourselves this year and ordered pizza.
Sweet little Hayden just sat back and watched all the mayhem. There's no doubt in my mind that she'll be in the thick of the madness by this time next year. She's got excellent mentors :).
Tickle Carter!!
Grandma Ernie constructed a wipeout course made entirely of Jell-O. The kids were delighted, and there may or may not have been some Jell-O slurping lessons that day :).
Make a wish, buddy!
Huge thanks to all of these fabulous people (& awesome Grandma Ernie) for all their help making Carter's dream party happen. We could not have done it without all the extra sets of hands.
Presents!
It was such a fun day, and seeing the joy (and chocolate syrup) on these kids' faces made it all worth it. Happy Birthday favorite 6-year-old! We love you!
