Look out world, here comes Carter! We definitely have a mover & shaker on our hands! Since we posted last, Carter is cruising quickly when he crawls, and pulls up to standing on EVERYTHING. He especially loves pulling up to our glass coffee table and "chewing" on it because his one little tooth makes a "tink" noise when he bites down. The poor kid is probably beginning to think his name is "Carter, No No."
Tooth #1 finally broke through on the bottom a couple weeks ago, and the second is just about through right next to it. He's been a little cranky, but not as bad as the first time. Most importantly, we are now sleeping through the night! After a couple of REALLY BAD nights, we (mom & dad) decided it was time to make a change. We started letting Carter cry it out when he'd wake up in the middle of the night. He did not love this idea the first night...he wailed for about 30 minutes the first time and about 20 minutes the second time he woke up before finally collapsing and falling back asleep. That was a VERY hard night for mom & dad to listen to his cries, but he still had big smiles for us when we got him up the next morning, so he must not have been too mad at us :) We've had four straight full nights of sleep since then...hopefully it's not just a fluke!
We had a great weekend when Aunt Lindsay & Uncle Jay were here last weekend. The whole Lies family went to the zoo! Carter got to pet the sheep and pull on the little goat's beard! He was a very good boy, regardless of the heat. We got to see a brand new baby giraffe - one day old! With all the hot days, Carter's gotten to do a lot of swimming lately! He made his first trip to the water park a couple weeks ago. He loved getting to stand up in the shallow part and splashing in the fountains.
We're pretty sure he'll be walking very soon. He loves to hold mom & dad's hands and "walk" around. He can move pretty quickly, and is very steady on his feet. He still tries to walk on his tip-toes sometimes, but not as much anymore. Hope you're all staying cool!
