Oh my goodness, momma's running behind! It's been 2 1/2 months since our last update and a few major events have taken place!
As I'm sure you're all aware, we were blessed with a beautiful baby boy, Asher Kade, on April 3. Other than the dr. running over an hour late for our c-section, the delivery went smoothly and mom and baby made it through great! Big brother Carter took to Asher very quickly and loves to hold "baby brudder" quite often. We're thankful that Carter doesn't smother the baby TOO much and has shown little to no signs of jealousy. Carter went to Irene's for daycare regularly while mommy was on maternity leave and loved playing with the kids. Daddy picked him up right after school every day and they enjoyed lots of boy time playing baseball in the evenings.
Asher's been a pretty good baby so far. We're very thankful that he hasn't had as much tummy trouble or spitting up issues that Carter had as a newbord and overall, he's been a fairly good sleeper. He's usually up 1-2 times per night to eat and he usually goes right back to sleep. Last night was very rough as Asher was up ALL NIGHT LONG. Mommy got to enjoy this fun all by herself since daddy is at Pitt State football camp for a few days. Thank goodness he'll be home soon! I enjoyed eight weeks of maternity leave and am starting my second week back to work. Hopefully the short nights end soon, because I could really use the sleep!
While I was home for maternity leave, we enjoyed many fun outings. The whole family had fun at the All School's Day parade and Carter really got into it this year. He stood nearly the whole time amazed by all the floats, trucks and characters as they passed by. Mommy and the boys spent a day at the Sedwick County Zoo with Melisa, Mal & Cole. Carter and Mal loved all the animals and sprinted between each exhibit, while Asher & Cole chilled in the strollers. We were all hot and sweaty by the end of our trip, but we all had a great time.
Grandma and Papa Allen treated the whole family to a fun trip to Branson over Memorial Day weekend. We prepped Carter for a week telling him about our upcoming vacation and now he asks us daily when we're going on another "va-ca-tion." We all had a blast--Silver Dollar City, tubing on Table Rock Lake, swimming and lots of fun with family! Carter rode a bunch of rides at Silver Dollar City and the trip must have made a memorable impression, because he spits out little details that he remembers every day.
In between all of the above fun, we've met up with Carter's friends Reed, Adyson, Ethan, Caden, new baby Brynn and Madelyn! Such a busy social life for a 2-year old. I also have some new stats to share for both boys. At 2 1/2, Carter weighs 35 lbs. and is 37 1/2 inches tall. At two months, Asher weighs 13 lbs., 2 oz. and is 21 3/4 inches. We were shocked that he's heavier than Carter was at two months! We don't make small babies...
Daddy's working at the golf course again this summer and umpiring occasionally. Mommy's getting back into the swing of a full work week again and is thrilled to pick up the boys at 5:00. We're hoping to make it to a Royals game sometime this summer, put together a garage sale, enjoy a day or two at Aunt Lou & Unc's house and get in LOTS of swimming time at Grammy & Grandpa's house. Summer will be over before we know it!
