What a fun-filled few months we've had! We visited the Oktoberfest celebration at St. Joe's in early October and Carter had a blast! It was his first time jumping and playing on inflatables and he was in heaven! They also had lots of fun carnival games indoors and we tried a few of those as well...waiting in line was not his favorite part of the day.
The three of us visited the Sunny Side Pumpkin Patch in Oct. as well. We enjoyed a beautiful afternoon there and Carter was lots of help this year picking out the perfect pumpkin. We took a hayrack ride around the whole patch to scope out the goods, and then we took a wagon out to find our perfect pumpkin and cut it off the vine. We found a big pumpkin for the front porch and a Carter-sized pumpkin for him to carry. After that we enjoyed their little petting zoo and mini maze for kiddos.
Next up was Carter's 2nd birthday! We enjoyed a fun jungle-themed party with lots of friends and family! Grandma Allen wowed us again with her awesome cakes for everyone to enjoy. Carter got a swingset from mommy, daddy, all the grandparents and Aunt Lou and Unc. He's loving it and peeks out the back door everyday to make sure it's still there.
Then it was time for Halloween! We enjoyed a whole week of Halloween fun including the carnival downtown, trick-or-treating on Halloween night and a great party for all the neighborhood kids on Sunday. Carter dressed up as a little golfer this year, complete with a little golf cart and everything! He got lots of comments and didn't hate his costume too much (except for the hat).
We got to play with friends Ethan, Adyson and Reed this month! Carter, Adyson and Reed all celebrated birthdays in the last two weeks, so we opened more presents last weekend with them. So much fun to see all the babies growing up! Speaking of babies...we're going to be working on SHARING extra hard at our house over the next several months. Carter announced that he will be a big brother in April! We had our sonogram a couple of weeks ago and the baby is growing normally! It's very active, just like Carter was and we weren't able to find out the gender yet. We'll go back before Christmas to find out the big news.
We went to the doctor for Carter's 2-year check-up recently. He was such a big boy for the nurse and waited very patiently while she weighed and measured him. He weighs 35 lbs. and is 35" tall. He's talking like crazy these days...even surprised us with a naughty word last month. Chris was totally shocked and couldn't imagine where he'd heard that from! He's putting together 3-4 words sentences and can almost always tell us what he wants. The "terrible two's" have visited us right on schedule. Carter can go from a fun, happy little boy to a screaming, fit-throwing little monster in a matter of seconds. Dad's hair is graying quite quickly and mom's may be gone completely by the time we make it through this "phase." Happy fall to everyone!
