We had an *interesting* start to the school year this year. The first day for both of our boys was supposed to be Wednesday, August 14. However, after a back-to-school BBQ at our school on Sunday evening, many of the students and over half of the staff got very sick (around 80 people total--Asher included!). There were so many ill that the school actually delayed the start, and Carter's first day was not until Thursday, August 15. Due to such a mass illness, the Health Dept. actually got involved and did stool and water testing to find out what the issue was. News cameras were in the parking lot the first day and there was lots of buzz around town...so crazy! Final result--Norovirus. We'll probably never know exactly what caused it.
So...on to the rescheduled First Day of School. Asher only goes M-W-F, so it was just Carter this first day. Such a big boy, and thrilled to go back to school. I hope this joy lasts for a long time.

This year, Carter rode the bus after school to the high school, where he met my dad. He'd then spent the rest of the afternoon with Crappaw. Carter was the only student to ride the bus from his school, and he's just a 1st grader, so he was pretty nervous that first day, and mommy was very nervous. So, stalker mommy drove to his school at the end of the day, parked at the back of the parking lot with my camera and waited. The school sends one of the 6th graders with Carter every day to walk him to the bus and wait with him--that eased my mind greatly. He totally caught me and was pretty confused as to why I was even there, but he rolled with it and did great!
The next day, Friday, August 16 was finally Asher's first day of Pre-K! He, too, was thrilled. It's hard telling what that scrape was from on his nose...just another battle wound from a day in the life of Asher.
